Tribeca/ESPN Sports Day

Saturday, May 3

Together with the Family Festival Street Fair, Tribeca/ESPN Sports Day will give fans of all ages the opportunity to participate in a variety of interactive sports related games and demonstrations. 

The U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) will be setting up two short courts and a quick serve cage for young players to hone their skills.  ESPN’s Play Your Way youth fitness outreach program will also be on hand to inspire kids to be physically active by teaching them to make up their own games and encourage creative recreational play. 

Both the New York Rangers and New York Knicks join the Tribeca/ESPN Sports Day for the first time this year. The Rangers Road Tour will give fans a chance to test the speed of their slap shot, get their picture taken in a life-sized player cutout and features an XBOX 360 video games system. The Knicks Groove Truck will challenge fans to a 3-point shooting contests, video gaming, and giveaway cool Knicks prizes. Joining the Rangers and Knicks will be players from the WNBA’s New York Liberty, along with surprise Knicks legends.

The New York Jets will host their “Generation Jets Fest” along N. Moore Street, where fans can participate in a football theme park filled with obstacles and tests of skill such as the quarterback challenge and touchdown run.  Also making their debut at Tribeca/ESPN Sports Day will be the New York Jets Flight Crew, who will be performing on the Main Stage and mingling with festivalgoers. 

Mr. Met will be in attendance to celebrate the Mets' last season at Shea Stadium, and Sparky, mascot of the New York Islanders, will greet fans, sign autographs, and give away cool gear. 

ESPN 1050 Radio will be broadcasting live from Sports Day, interviewing athletes and celebrities, and will host a Kentucky Derby contest leading up to their live broadcast of the Derby.
 

NY Giants Videogaming Live



The New York Football Giants Bring Videogames to Life at Tribeca ESPN Sports Film Festival. There will be a day long competition which will test participant’s videogaming skills with the team’s fully interactive “training camp”. The event will also include football toss inflatables, many giveaways, various raffles and the chance to win the grand-prize with winners to be announced on the GGL Global Gaming website www.ggl.com on Monday, May 5.
