Kiri, an overweight Maori woman, takes a trip with family and friends to the Whakatiki River, where she spent many summers as a girl. The place awakens powerful memories for Kiri, and as her relationship rapidly crumbles, she is drawn to an unexpected outcome.

About the Director(s)
Louise Leitch grew up in Australia and graduated from Canberra University. At the age of 23, she was running an in-house production unit for the Australian government. She went on to direct close to 200 episodes of iconic Australian TV dramas before moving to New Zealand. Whakatiki is her second short film.
