ONCE UPON A TIME IN MARRAKECH

In the autumn of 2005, 16 film students from NYC and Morocco converged on Marrakech as guests of the Tribeca Film Institute, Tribeca Film Festival, and the Marrakech International Film Festival Foundation to study under Abbas Kiarostami (joined at one point by Martin Scorsese). This document, by the master's longtime director of photography, will screen with a new Kiarostami short, Roads of Kiarostami, and some of the students' works. (total running time 110 min.) About the Director(s)
Seifollah Samadian started doing photography in 1968 and launched his career as a documentary filmmaker ten years later with The Long Road of Suffering to Revolution. Since 1991, he has been the publisher and editor-in-chief of TASSVIR (Image), a magazine dedicated to the visual arts and is the director of the TASSVIR Film Festival. His work has been featured in renowned art galleries around the world, including the Vienna Museum of Contemporary Art and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, and his films have appeared at numerous international festivals.
