Short-Sighted: Juno, Why Delete the "Zub Zub" Scene?

Going around the web today is the news that Fox Searchlight's hit movie Juno, starring Ellen Page as the wisecracking pregnant teen who was marketed brilliantly to Oscar approval for writer Diablo Cody, media over-saturation, and a crazy new level of career for Kimya Dawson, has spawned another soundtrack, (yeah, "spawn" is the obvious joke) which will be an iTunes exclusive release on April 8. To celebrate that fact, Fox has released a deleted scene, "Cafe Triste," as a teaser. In "Cafe Triste" Juno plays a solo set and sings a song for Paulie Bleeker (Michael Cera) while best friend Leah (Olivia Thirlby) rocks out. It is an angry song, since she is not over the moon about her pregnancy. The scene plays funny and real in a way that a good percentage of Juno wasn't, with a good goofy Danny Trejo joke. Why would you delete something like this, Reitman, and go for the glib?

I can not believe the twisted and pointless movie No Country for Old Men won over Junos moving and hilarious story!

Simple fact of life. Comedies never win. I think Manhattan or Annie Hall was the last comedy to win.
