Tribeca has launched the second #6SECFILMS Competition, powered by Vine. Here's the leaderboard of entries and their standings in the Audience Award. Here are the official rules. See below for full details on this competition and how to enter!
Here's how it works: Vine creators can enter as many Vines as they want in any of the following categories: #GENRE, #DRAMA, #COMEDY, or #ANIMATION (see details below), and the TFF programming team will create a short list of their favorites to share with our jury (jury to be announced soon). The jury will choose a winner in each category, and the public will vote on an audience award winner across all categories.
Here's how to enter (you can read the official rules here):
(Note: not seeing your Vine on the leaderboard after a few hours? You probably just forgot to confirm your entry. You can check the status of your latest entry at any time using your Twitter handle here.)
STEP ONE: MAKE A VINE
The challenge: make a film in six seconds.
Tips: Your short film should tell story with a beginning, middle, and end. Creating unique characters, worlds, and plots for your Vine will give you an advantage. (Note: please see the official rules regarding use of third-party copyrighted material such as music, etc.)
STEP TWO: TAG YOUR VINE
Tag your Vine #6SECFILMS and the hashtag of the category in which you want to enter. Read the categories below to see where you want to compete. Big note: the same Vine cannot be submitted to more than one category. Choose one category that best fits your Vine: #DRAMA, #COMEDY, #ANIMATION, or #GENRE.
STEP THREE: POST YOUR VINE AND CHECK THE BOX TO SHARE IT TO TWITTER
To be eligible to win, you have to post your Vine to Twitter as well! So be sure you have a linked Twitter account and check the box within Vine to share it to Twitter. You can check the status of your latest entry at any time using your Twitter handle here.
STEP FOUR: ANSWER OUR MESSAGE AND ACCEPT THE RULES
Don't forget this step: Once you post your Vine to Twitter with the two hashtags (#6SECFILMS and your category), you'll receive an @Reply from @TribecaVine on Twitter with a link to accept the rules (allow a few hours to one day for this). Accept them, and your Vine is officially entered. You must do this for each entry. You can check the status of your latest entry at any time using your Twitter handle here
STEP FIVE: TELL YOUR FRIENDS TO VOTE FOR YOUR VINE!
Each entry gets its own unique shareable address to make it easy for your friends and followers to vote for your Vine. There are two ways to get your address: It will be presented to you when you confirm your entry via the @ message you receive on Twitter after submitting your Vine. There are two ways to get your address:
Remember: you can enter as many Vines as you want!
Read the rest of the official rules here.
THE DEADLINE IS 11:59 PM EST ON 3/27/2014.
Vines submitted after this date will not be eligible. Sorry, we gotta cut it off sometime.
All Vines submitted to Twitter using the relevant hashtags and for which the creator has accepted the rules before the deadline of 3/27/2014 will be reviewed by the Tribeca Film Festival programming team. A shortlist of select Vines that meet the creative requirements will be chosen by the programmers. Our panel of distinguished judges will deliberate over the shortlist and select a winner in each category. Voting for the Audience Award extends to midnight on 4/13/14.
The category and audience award winners will be announced 4/15/14 and displayed on TribecaFilm.com during the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival.
