Story Behind the Scene: Rubberneck
The movie’s largely a triangle. It’s about unreciprocated desires and obsessions revolving around two men and one woman.
—Alex Karpovsky
What do you do when you’re in love with someone and they just don’t want you? What if you’re already a little unstable to begin with? Rubberneck, the film by multi-hyphenate Alex Karpovsky that celebrated its world premiere at the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival, is a terrifyingly believable thriller centered on an office romance gone horribly awry.
Commenting on this pivotal scene from Rubberneck in which the three main characters are crammed into a small break room, Alex Karpovsky explains the significance of this close encounter shot entirely in one take and the importance of having enough “faith” to take risks.
Rubberneck will be available on digital platforms and VOD nationwide starting Feburary 19. The film opens in NYC at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center at Film Society on Feburary 22.
